Apathy

At work, we have a lunch floor where people eat like herded cattle. Everyone squeezes in, because there's too little room, chairs and tables to accommodate so many people. The caterer is a monopoly, and like a typical monopoly, he enjoys the benefits of lack of competition. Today, he delivered uncooked snacks. I went and complained. I asked him "Please go and eat this yourself. It's uncooked". And he just smiled, muttered something, and that was it. But that's not the point. Two other colleagues of mine, who ate with me, they told me "yes yes, you go and complain". "yes yes good you complained". And that was it.

  1. chaelga yaar! koi farak nahi padtha. Somehow, many indians don't aspire for high quality. This makes our society tolerant to mediocracy. Although it can argued that this what keeps us mentally happy. India is among the poorest markets for anti-depressant medications. US & Japan are the biggest!

  2. heh thanks :). I don't think that's entirely true. When we buy stuff or try to save money, we look for the best value, because we are spending our money directly.
